“Great Stay”
Reviewed 5th January 2012
I stayed in Dukes with my boyfriend over the New Year. The hotel was in a great location, only a 20 minute walk into the City Centre, and just beside Queen’s University, the Ulster Museum and the Botanic Gardens.
We were able to check in early, and our room was great. The décor was very modern with large TV, ipod docking station and great size bathroom with huge shower!
The staff were all very friendly and even offered us a free glass of champagne on arrival!
We had dinner in the restaurant on New Year’s Eve which was delicious and great value. The staff then offered to reserve us a table in the cocktail lounge after our meal which we accepted. The cocktails were fantastic and we really enjoyed the entertainment also.
Breakfast the next morning was lovely and cooked to order, while we helped ourselves to the cold buffet.
Although the hotel doesn’t have a car park, we found parking easily on University Street and we had no problems.
All in all we had a great stay, and will definitely be going back again.

“Great Weekend”
Reviewed 16th December 2011
Stayed here for a weekend in December as me and my friends were having Christmas Dinner on the Saturday night. The rooms were great, really spacious and nicely decorated. Dinner on the Saturday night was delicious especially as the restaurant was so busy!! We went into Claudine’s after our meal and had some cocktails which were also great! There was a DJ playing the Bar and was playing music for all ages along with Christmas Tunes which got everybody in great form! We decided to get breakfast to our room both mornings which came right on time and was just what we needed after our big night. All the staff were really friendly and could not do enough for us. Will definitely be back again next year!

I booked this hotel for my husband and I to stay in on a night out in Belfast, we ended up not even leaving the hotel. The reception staff were very friendly on arrival and despite their being a problem with my booking, which was my fault, check in was still quick and efficient. They were willing to help us with any plans we wanted to make for the evening either inside the hotel or out in the town.
Our room was on the second floor and was absolutely huge with a glorious king size bed, sitting area and all the mod cons. A huge flat screen tv and i-pod doc which could be controlled from the bed. The bathroom was also really big with a lovely large bath and a very good power shower (we do judge our hotels by their showers I have to say.) There was a constant supply of hot water at any stage of the day.
We had booked a dinner package, again the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly despite being very busy with some large christmas parties in. The food again was really nice and didn’t suffer due to the christmas party bookings which does sometimes happen in hotels and bars. The restaurant was really luxuriously decorated and is a great place to spend an evening, which is what we did. There was an acoustic singer on while we were having our meal and later on there was a a dj both of whom were really good and made you want to stay.
Although we were at the front of the hotel we didn’t hear any noise from people of traffic outside. Breakfast was good, with kind a large selection of cereals and then the option of made to order hot breakfast. Again the staff were really friendly and always interested in having a chat if you want to.
On checkout we and one of the receptionists that checked us in and as usual friendly and efficient service.
I cannot praise this hotel highly enough, our stay was fabulous from start to finish and I have no doubt that if i need to stay in Belfast again I will be booking a room here.

I have just had a wonderful weekend staying in Dukes hotel. The friendly staff and the excellent service we received helped make our weekend very special. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms fabulous. Food fabulous. Cocktails fabulous. We had a great time dancing the night away in Claudines. This is the second year we have stayed here and it keeps getting better. We will be returning next year and probably during the year too. Our experience was so much better than we have had at supposedly 5 star hotels in Belfast. Thank you to you all.

If your looking for a stylish hotel with lovely staff then this is the place to stay! I booked this hotel for me and 8 friends for my best friends hen do in October. From booking I had to make two changes and the hotel staff was happy to help. When we arrived, we were so pleased. The room was the superior which was only £10 more, and what a room…..it was huge, comforting and modern. The staff were always on hand to answer our many questions, book taxis and recommend countless places. They never got tired of us asking, always wanting to make sure we had a great time. The bar served fantastic cocktails and the breakfast is superb! I can’t recommend this hotel enough and will definitely be going back.

We arrived a bit early (super early in Belfast speak) at midday and thought we would just leave our bags and head out for a while, but the lovely lady on reception advised that after a quick check there had been a cancellation and we were upgraded to the top floor. ALL of the staff from the kitchen, reception, bar, restaurant, cleaners were always friendly, chatty, smiley and most of all helpful, they seriously seemed like they could not do enough to ensure we had a great stay in Belfast. All the staff we had contact with over our stay are a true credit to this hotel. On top of this our room was beautiful, modern, spacious and extremely clean with a great bed and nice bedding and you couldn’t hear any noises from outside or inside the hotel. It had some great touches like iPod docks with bedside controls, big rain showers, steam proof mirrors, great big towels and little chocolates by the bed each night. You could make tea or coffee in the room or go down to the bar or restaurant which had reasonable prices for the great tasting food we tried, and the service was once again…spot on!
The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the city centre and there are heaps of bars, pubs and restaurants on the way. Our tours that we took while we were there (Black Cab Belfast City Tour and Allen’s Causeway tour) picked us up at the hotel anyway. We were originally going to walk to the start point of the Allen’s tour but the lady on reception cheerfully organised a pick up for us even though we didn’t book it through the hotel.
We will definitely be going back and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thanks everyone for helping make our first visit to Belfast so memorable!!

Delightful hotel full of friendly and professional staff. We stayed here whilst visiting our daughter who is at Queen’s University. Hotel is in a great position for the university but also town which we walked to.Warmest of welcomes from the charming receptionist who seemed to be on duty most of our stay so caught up on our activities as we came and went. Enjoyed cocktails in the bar and full Irish breakfasts. The room was a superiour but excellent value for money with comfy bed, large TV and seating area with great swinging chairs. Room 104 at front of hotel, 2 nights bed and breakfast was £160. Coming from London, the pace of life in the hotel but also Belfast seemed much nicer with people genuinely having time to talk. Loved the Hotel, thank you Dukes and loved Belfast!! We’ll be back for our daughter’s graduation!!

this hotel is in the leafy area around Queens University but within reach of the city centre. Everything is nice about staying here. The rooms are lovely, sometimes slightly hot but the air conditioning can be put on. The staff are more than helpful. there are many resteraunts are around the hotel but we like eating at the hotel and there is usually a deal on for two people with a bottle of wine ! Breakfast is served with a good choice and great full Irish breakfast which easily keeps you going all day ! I would say on a visit to Belfast this hotel combines good quality service with attention to detail and a personable friendly atmosphere that you don’t always get in chain hotels.

Our deluxe double room was spacious, modern and comfortable. Beyond those qualities, though, it had a more intangible quality – it was fun and upbeat. Whoever designed the rooms did a fantastic job! The staff was friendly and helpful, the made-to-order breakfast was delicious, we enjoyed drinks and lunch at the bar/restaurant, and on-the-street parking was not a problem. Highly recommend!

When we originally booked this hotel I wasn’t expecting too much as we got it for a very good price and it seemed to be quite central. How wrong we were! Our ferry over from Scotland was late and we did not arrive until after 12.30am, however, calling in advance to let them know they said there was no problem and that everything would be ready for our arrival.
Although the available parking is street parking we were able to find a space very close without any problem, the registration was simple and all we had to do was sign. The night guard/barman/receptionist was very nice and told us that the bar would be open as long as we liked. The room itself was wonderful, very large and quiet and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was also much welcomed, it was enormous with a large bath and shower. The bed was very large and comfortable and I can honestly say that we had no complaints.
When we eventually wandered down to the bar in delight we were greeted with reasonable prices and very nice decor, the barman was also great craic. After a great night’s sleep we were welcomed with a full breakfast which included a choice of a hot breakfast in addition to fruit and cereal etc. No complaints with that either.
The surrounding area has many bars and restaurants, although I would strongly suggest a taxi back in the evening if you have gone into the cathedral quarter as we did on our return journey back.

City centre is a walkable distance (about 20 min.). I don’t think that you could do better than this in Belfast at such a good price. Highly recommended.

We arrived jetlagged and tired direct from New Zealand hoping to find a reasonable place to catch up on sleep, then check out the local sights. The rooms were great and the beds even nicer. This is a lovely place with very helpful staff who pointed us in the right direction for everything we wanted to see. We would heartily recommend this hotel to others.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights as a birthday trip and had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and organised both the open top bus tour and the coach trip to giant’s causeway which I highly recommend. It was a great way to see more of the Belfast countryside and was very informative. Sit on the right side of the coach for the best views! The causeway itself is amazing.
Our room was very comfortable and spacious, with great facilities. The breakfast is delicious and was great when we had it for room service one morning. We also ate in the hotel restaurant one evening and it was fantastic.
The city centre is within easy reach either on foot or a short taxi ride, and the immediate area is great for a variety of attractions. There are a few bars and restaurants down Botanic Avenue (good meal in Darcy’s, and the Chubby Cherrub in town), and the botanical gardens are nice to stroll around. There’s also the Ulster museum which was good but we didn’t get long to spend in there unfortunately.
Overall it was a fantastic place to stay, and I would highly recommend it.
Stayed 3 night whilst at a conference at Queens Univ. Its just around the corner, lots of restaurants & cafe’s nearby. Rooms v clean , receptionist girls very friendly and genuinely interested in you. Bed one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in for a while. V good breakfast included in my room rate. Would def go back again.
Ive stayed at this hotel lots of times now and thought id make a few notes to help fellow travellers. Without exception, the Hotel is excellent. The standard of service is the best. I use lots of Hotels as I travel a lot for work and am impressed when I get great service as most Hotels promise it but few deliver. You can help but be impressed by the energy and enthusiasm of the staff. The front desk staff are efficient, friendly nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are lovely, clean, modern and got loads of AV stuff. They are warm clean and welcoming. The bar and restaurant team are excellent – again nothing is too much trouble they are friendly and professional. Food is great – try the Chicken Supreme is excellent. Great value for money, hot fresh food. I did read a couple of negative comments about the place but honestly dont know what they are saying – they should get out more.
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place – well done to all the Hotel team top service and top place.
We had a brilliant time at the hotel for my mothers’ 80th birthday party in February. The staff where really brilliant from the moment of booking through to the reception on arrival and throughout the night. The facilities where first class and catered for the wide range of ages in the group and the food was simply delicious. I would recommend this hotel for its location in Belfast as a quiet retreat within the Queens Quarter, where there is a great buzz , but mostly for the friendliness of the staff.
From the moment my wife and I arrived at the hotel we were made to feel welcomed and appreciated. The entrance and foyer of the hotel are both bright and welcoming and this was matched by the recepionist who greeted us with a friendly smile and made us feel right at home. Everything we needed to know about the services offered by the hotel was explained to us succinctly. We were also given information about different tourist trips that were available which we were then able to organise through the very accommodating reception staff. Our bedroom was excellent with a very large and comfortable bed with a large flatscreen television and ipod facility that even my wife was able to understand and operate. The bathroom had everything you would expect to find in a top hotel wihh everything spotlessly clean. On our first night we had a few drinks in the hotel bar which had a very relaxing atmosphere and on our second night we had a meal in the hotel dining room. Their menu and wine list were both extensive and when we eventually made our minds up on what to order we can honestly say that it was all first class and we found nothing disappointing. The staff in both the bar and restaurant were very friendly and contributed in making our stay very enjoyable. Mr G Sullivan - Trip Advisor
